Trans Actor Speaks Out on ‘The View’
During a recent episode of “The View,” transgender actor Laverne Cox expressed strong disapproval of President Trumpโs latest executive orders concerning transgender individuals, labeling them as “illegal”.
The topic arose while Cox appeared on the popular ABC daytime talk show to discuss her latest television project with actor and comedian George Wallace, titled “Clean Slate.” The series tells the story of a father reconnecting with his recently transitioned daughter, portrayed by Cox. Seizing the moment, Cox criticized the executive decisions made by the current administration that aim to limit transgender language at the federal level.
“Everything heโs doing is illegal,” Cox asserted while speaking with the show’s hosts.

The discussion on “The View” commenced with co-host Ana Navarro acknowledging Cox for effectively blending activism and acting. Cox was then prompted to share her thoughts on Trump’s executive orders.

One key order, known as “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth,” reiterates the administration’s policy of recognizing only two sexes and outlines guidance for federal agencies.
Additionally, the “No Men in Women’s Sports” order mandates that eligibility for women’s sports teams be determined by biological sex rather than gender identity or testosterone reduction.
In recounting personal experiences, Cox spoke out against years of anti-trans discrimination, saying, “This started at the state level many years ago.” She highlighted the troubling trend of states banning “gender-affirming care” for young people, which has forced individuals and families to make difficult relocations. “Now itโs happening on a federal level,” she added.
Despite the challenges, Cox offered words of encouragement for the trans community, expressing hope that the orders would be legally challenged. Noting that trans individuals represent a very small percentage of the population, she stated, “We are not to blame for why you canโt afford eggs, healthcare, or housing.”
This conversation on “The View” underscores ongoing national debates over transgender rights, particularly regarding sports and healthcare. As these discussions unfold, Cox advocated for understanding, claiming that the focus should be shifted to the causes and solutions to significant economic issues affecting Americans today.
