A tragic fire has devastated what was meant to be a joyous wedding celebration, turning it into a heartbreaking disaster.

News from local media confirms that the event, intended to celebrate the union of a couple, ended in tragedy as a fierce fire engulfed the party, claiming the lives of more than 100 people.

Miraculously, the bride and groom managed to escape unharmed, but not all guests were so fortunate. Many of their friends and family were caught in the catastrophe.

The horrific incident occurred on a Tuesday evening in Qaraqosh, a city in northern Iraq. Over 100 lives were lost, and around 150 individuals sustained injuries, sparking outrage due to inadequate safety measures at the venue.

Fireworks, ignited during the festivities, are believed to have triggered the blaze, quickly spreading beyond control. The venue reportedly lacked the necessary clearances for such fireworks, resulting in a collapse of the ceiling that trapped and injured many attendees.

Iraq’s defense minister expressed his deepest condolences for the lives lost and promised to hold those responsible accountable for this preventable tragedy that has left hundreds mourning their loved ones.
