From time to time, you might hear about a cat whose personality is so remarkable that their story needs to be told to the world. Such is the case with Esme, a cat with a most peculiar pastime.
Esme could certainly enjoy a cozy nap like any other pet, but she has taken a shine to exploring the neighborhood for things she can pilfer. Her human has humorously labeled her as a burglar.
To address Esme’s thieving antics, her humans crafted a clever solution—a makeshift return station outside their home. Neighbors and passersby couldn’t resist taking snapshots, sending the photos viral across the internet. Within the image, there is a cheeky sign notifying passersby that Esme might have ‘borrowed’ something of theirs.
The sign reads: “My cat is a thief. Please take these items if they are yours.” There is a clothesline draped with a mishmash of items, predominately gloves, which Esme seems to prefer swiping from the vicinity.
What compels Esme to embark on these thieving adventures is anyone’s guess. The timeframe of her kleptomaniac escapades remains unknown as well. We’re glad her humans opted to ingeniously return these treasures, while playfully bringing attention to their feline’s quirky behavior.
