Facing an unimaginable decision, a couple had to ask doctors to cease CPR efforts on their young child.
Morgan and Cody Christofferson are sharing their heart-wrenching experience about watching their worst fear manifest before their eyes.

June 2021 was an exciting time for Morgan and Cody as they eagerly awaited the arrival of their new baby. With Soren, their eldest, already at home, the family was ready to grow. The pregnancy was smooth, regularly accompanied by reassurance from doctors about the baby’s robust heartbeat.

However, at their 20-week ultrasound, a new chapter of challenges began. Morgan and Cody learned that their child had a birth defect. The news was overwhelming. The baby’s pulmonary artery, essential for carrying oxygen from the heart to the lungs, was improperly formed. Additionally, holes were discovered at the base of his ventricles, piling on the complexity of his medical condition.

At birth, the situation seemed manageable, and at 8 months old, their son underwent surgery to correct these defects. Initially, the surgery seemed successful, bringing hope to Morgan and Cody. But their relief was short-lived as they soon noticed troubling signs.
The terrifying moment came when their son suddenly couldn’t breathe. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, the grim realization that their little boy had passed away forced Morgan and Cody to make the agonizing decision to stop the medical intervention.
In their words, their beloved child was gone, leaving behind nothing but cherished memories and profound loss.
