Major Details Emerge About Assassination Of Insurance CEO As Police Explain What Happened Before Shooting

In a shocking twist, police have uncovered crucial evidence related to the murder of Brian Thompson.

The esteemed CEO of UnitedHealthcare fell victim to a brutal attack on a Wednesday morning, specifically around 6:46 am. He was shot outside a bustling Midtown hotel by a masked assailant, who remains elusive as of now.

Intriguingly, three of the bullets found at the scene bear mysterious inscriptions.

The NYPD has disclosed that these bullets were marked with the words “deny,” “depose,” and “defend.”

This peculiar message seems to echo a theme from a 2010 book critiquing the insurance industry, of which Thompson was a significant figure. The book titled “Delay, Deny, Defend” explores why insurance companies often fail to payout and advises on what can be done.

Authorities are probing connections between the book and the murder, potentially indicating an insurance-related motive.

In their investigation, police have retrieved three live rounds and three spent casings from the vicinity of the Hilton hotel on Sixth Avenue. Thompson, aged 50, was scheduled to lead an investor conference the morning he was tragically shot.

Evidently, the gunman, employing a silencer, demonstrated proficient shooting skills, as detailed in news reports.

The perpetrator was observed by witnesses lying in wait outside the hotel, before approaching the CEO and firing multiple times at a close range.

Even when the weapon malfunctioned, the shooter efficiently resolved the issue and continued the attack. After Thompson collapsed, the suspect fled through an alley, escaping on an e-bike into Central Park, where surveillance is notably sparse.

Investigators were able to glean some clues, such as the suspect’s mistake of purchasing items like coffee, a water bottle, and granola bars from a nearby Starbucks.

These items, later discarded in a nearby trash can, have been collected as evidence by the police.

Additionally, a tip led authorities to a Long Island Rail Road train ticket; however, this inquiry did not yield further leads.

Despite this setback, officials are urging the public to assist by sharing any information they might have regarding the elusive masked gunman.

A police representative expressed, “The train was searched but turned up nothing. Yet, every tip helps piece together the puzzle, any small lead could make the difference.”

Interestingly, a cellphone was also discovered in proximity to the crime scene, and authorities have gained a search warrant to examine its contents.

Recent updates reveal that the suspect arrived in New York City via bus from Atlanta, according to ABC 7. In a bold move, he checked into the HI New York City Hostel under a borrowed identity.

During his stay, he consistently masked his face but briefly revealed himself while conversing with the hostel’s receptionist.

Hostel spokesperson Danielle Brunfitt stated, “We are cooperating fully with the NYPD and, due to the active status of this investigation, we cannot provide further comments.”

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny commented, “Based on our current evidence, it’s apparent the victim was a clear target, but the reason remains unknown. It doesn’t appear to be a random act of violence.”

A manhunt is now fervently underway, with a $10,000 reward announced for any information leading to the suspect’s capture.

Tragically, Thompson succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
