Father of Bride Killed on Wedding Night Makes Emotional Pledge in Court

In a heartrending court appearance, the father of a young bride killed on her wedding night addressed the drunk driver responsible for the tragedy.

This devastating incident occurred in April 2023 when Jamie Lee Komoroski tragically took the life of Samantha Miller, just after she had joyously wed Aric Hutchison.

Their dreams shattered in moments on a night that was meant to be the happiest of their lives.

Komoroski, driving with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, collided with the newlyweds’ golf cart at a staggering speed of 65mph as they departed their wedding reception on Folly Beach, North Carolina. The tragedy unfolded despite all their dreams and plans, leaving heartbreak in its wake.

After the crash, Aric Hutchison sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized for weeks. Samantha, his beloved bride, unfortunately, passed away shortly after.

Appearing in the South Carolina courtroom, Aric reflected on that fateful night, sharing: “She softly told me she wished the night would never end. I placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, and the next thing I recall is waking up in a hospital.”

Throughout the court proceedings, Samantha’s family members did not hold back in expressing their sentiments toward Komoroski.

Brad Warner, Samantha’s father, solemnly declared, “For as long as I live, the pain and anger towards you will remain,” followed by, “And if I ever find myself at the gates of hell, I will be waiting for you there.”

Warner revealed that his own life had been previously marked by an earlier incident involving a hit-and-run driver. Having just come to terms with forgiving that driver a mere six months before, he now finds himself grappling with the loss of his daughter due to Komoroski’s actions.

Reports noted that Komoroski had expressed to her friends a desire to “live her best life” once released from jail. However, she now faces a lengthy sentence extending until 2049.

Aric bravely recounted the heartbreaking moment he regained consciousness in the hospital, only to learn of Samantha’s passing.

“I first noticed my mother, dressed in the same attire as the wedding night,” Aric recalled to the court, “I asked about Sam, and I immediately knew the devastating truth.”

Describing his own health challenges since the incident, Aric shared candidly, “I have seen countless doctors, therapists, and psychiatrists, yet the overwhelming grief and the sense of loss remain unchanged.”

In a moment of raw emotion, he expressed, “I often wish I had met the same fate that night. Had I known, I might have leaped from the cart to spare her this agony.”

“The impact was brutalโ€”a collision that felt more like being pierced through at high speed than a simple hit.”

Continuing, Aric acknowledged, “Sometimes, I wrestle with the thought, wishing I had joined her in those final moments, so she wouldn’t have faced them alone.”

“Passion, joy, and driveโ€”I’ve lost them all, and every tick of the clock is a reminder of the inferno I’m trapped in,” Aric admitted with palpable despair. “What words suffice when your entire world is obliterated in an instant?”

Echoing these sentiments in court, Aric recounted, “Not a day goes by without reliving that night or those precious moments with Sam on the golf cart.”

Aric’s mother shared with the court the depth of his heartbreak has forced her to confront haunting fears, questioning if it might have been kinder for fate to have taken them both.

Komoroski was speeding at 65mph in a 25mph zone when the incident occurred, highlighting a dangerous decision that altered lives forever. Alongside Samantha, two family members in the cart also suffered life-altering injuries.

A statement from the proceedings noted the sentencing: Komoroski received a 25-year term for the DUI leading to Miller’s death, an additional 15 years related to the injuries suffered by Hutchison, and another 10 for reckless homicide. The sentences will be served concurrently, totaling a 25-year imprisonment.

Offering her own statement, Komoroski shared her remorse: “On April 22, 2023, the choice I made to drive intoxicated resulted in losing a wonderful life, that of Samantha Miller.”

“Never in my existence have I made a more catastrophic choice.”

“My irresponsible actions cost the world a remarkable wife, sister, and daughter.”

In a statement rooted in regret, she expressed, “I am truly and deeply sorry, extended from the core of my heart, taking full accountability for the pain I’ve caused.”

“For the rest of my days, regret will be my constant companion; I am profoundly ashamed, and eternally sorry.”

The moment remains filled with sadness and loss. Rest in Peace.
