Donald Trump has issued a new executive order, adding stricter controls on Trans care for children in the United States. Being at the age of 78, he has taken this step with the aim of ‘protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation’.
The order accuses medical practitioners of harming and sterilizing an increasing number of susceptible youths under the premise that adults can change a child’s sex through irreversible medical procedures. It labels this a ‘dangerous trend’ that needs to be stopped to eliminate what it calls a ‘stain on our Nation’s history’.
According to the order, “Many children regret having undergone these procedures once they come to realize the grave reality that they’ll never have the chance to conceive or nurture children through breastfeeding. Furthermore, these susceptible youths might face rising medical expenses over their lifetimes since they could suffer from continuous medical challenges, a lifelong struggle with their bodies, and unfortunately, sterilization,” it explains.
Trump has mandated that it becomes official US policy to refrain from funding, sponsoring, encouraging, aiding, or supporting what it defines as the ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another. It also puts emphasis on rigorously enforcing all laws that restrict or ban these life-altering procedures.
The term ‘child’ within this order encompasses all Americans below the age of 19. The order goes on to specify the prohibition of puberty blockers, including GnRH agonists and other methods meant to delay the onset or advancement of normally timed puberty in an individual who doesn’t identify with his or her biological sex. It also bans the use of sex hormones, such as androgen blockers, estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone, to modify an individual’s physical appearance to coincide with an identity that differs from his or her biological sex.
Furthermore, it prohibits surgical operations seeking to alter an individual’s physical appearance to match an identity that diverges from his or her biological sex or attempting to change or remove natural sexual organs to reduce or nullify their inherent biological functions.
