Celebrated actress Candace Cameron Bure stirred a bit of a media storm recently.
Known for her role on ‘Full House,’ Candace shared a bold series of photos with her husband, Valeri Bure.
The images stirred a mix of reactions, primarily from her Christian fanbase, for what they labeled as “inappropriate.”
On a Friday, Candace posted two joyful photos showcasing the couple’s tender moments.
The first photo showed Candace cozying up to Valeri, who affectionately kissed her forehead.
In another, the couple beamed at the camera, while Valeri playfully placed his hand on Candace’s chest.
These snapshots were initially featured on her Instagram Stories and later moved to her main feed.
Alongside the images, Candace included the caption: “sweet and spicy ❤️🙌🏼🌶 24 years and counting 😉”
This cheeky nod to their long-term relationship was intended as a lighthearted moment; however, some followers expressed their disapproval, finding the display unsuitable.
In response to the backlash, Candace turned to her Instagram Stories to address her followers directly.
She stated, “For all you Christians questioning my post with my husband’s hand on my boob, it’s my husband of 24 years. It makes me laugh because it’s my husband.”
She emphasized the wholesome and joyful nature of their marriage, assuring fans, “We have so much fun together. He can touch me anytime he wants, and I hope he does.
This is what a healthy, good marriage and relationship is all about, so I’m sorry if it offended you.” Her message ended on a strong note with, “I’m actually not sorry.”
Candace and Valeri have shared their lives together since June 22, 1996. The duo, who have been married for over two decades, have three wonderful kids: Natasha, who is 22; Lev, 20; and Maksim, 18.
Their family continues to grow, with Lev recently engaged to his girlfriend, Taylor Hutchison, promising the excitement of young love.
Candace has never shied away from expressing her religious convictions. Her Instagram often features Bible verses, reaffirming her faith’s importance in her life.
Her commitment to her beliefs was evident during her stint as a co-host on ‘The View’ from 2015-2016, where she frequently debated with more liberal colleagues.
In past instances of controversy, Candace has handled herself with grace and confidence. Notably, in August, she subtly commented on the sentencing of her longtime friend and fellow ‘Full House’ star, Lori Loughlin, embroiled in the college admissions scandal.
Lori and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, were given prison terms for their participation in the scandal, resulting in public and media uproar.
Through thick and thin, Candace has remained loyal to her friends and family, showcasing a steadfast commitment to her support network. Her affectionate interaction with her husband, even amid controversy, underscores a marriage built on mutual respect and love—a message she hopes resonates with her audience.
While not everyone may agree with her public displays of affection, Candace remains unapologetically authentic.
Reflecting on her nearly 25-year marriage, Candace’s candid remarks aim to normalize expressions of affection within long-term relationships.
In turn, she hopes that more people will embrace the beauty and joy inherent in steadfast partnerships like hers.
