As reported by her family through the BBC, she left us peacefully in her sleep during the early hours of a Friday morning, specifically on November 8th.

Her family has expressed their profound gratitude towards the staff at Liberham Lodge, emphasizing their exceptional care and love during the last two years of her life.

Beginning her journey on The Archers in 1951, June portrayed the character Peggy Woolley, formerly known as Peggy Archer, until her retirement in 2022 at the venerable age of 103.

Peggy Woolley was recognized as a traditional and somewhat conservative personality, navigating the complexities of life in the fictional village of Ambridge.

She was one of the original cast members when The Archers first aired. She initially left the show in the mid-1950s, and the beloved role of Peggy was taken over by actress Thelma Rogers.

A few years later, she reprised her cherished role in the early 1960s, upon Thelma Rogers’ departure from the series.
