Elon Musk Discusses Cybertruck Explosion Near Trump Hotel

Elon Musk has shared insights on the Cybertruck explosion that occurred outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. On New Year’s Day, a ‘bomb or large fireworks’ exploded in a rented Tesla Cybertruck outside the hotel, according to Musk, the CEO of Tesla.

The explosion involved a rented Cybertruck, parked outside the hotel, catching fire and tragically resulting in one fatality while injuring seven others around 9 am. Musk stated that the violent occurrence, happening shortly after the New Orleans terror attack that claimed 15 lives, is ‘likely an act of terrorism.’

Authorities are examining potential connections between this explosion and the New Orleans incident.

It was disclosed that the vehicle involved was hired through Turo, the same rental service linked to the New Orleans attack. Commenting on the incident, Musk said, ‘Law enforcement currently believes it was likely deliberate,’ adding that the rented Cybertruck and the F-150 involved in the New Orleans bombing could be somehow connected.

CNN reported that investigators discovered fireworks, gas tanks, and camping fuel in the truck’s bed.

The truck had earlier been seen on CCTV footage driving past the hotel an hour before the explosion, then returning to park right in front of the building. ‘Tesla vehicles transmit their state of health continuously,’ noted Musk, affirming that the company could confirm the truck’s mechanics were not the cause.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill characterized the explosion as an act of terror, emphasizing the importance of safety on Las Vegas Boulevard following the New Orleans attack and the discovery of additional explosive devices. ‘We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure community safety,’ he stressed.

Musk, known for his close relationship with Donald Trump, having been appointed to head his “department of government efficiency,” stated, ‘The entire Tesla senior team is investigating this event. This is unprecedented for us.’

‘The Cybertruck, with its stainless steel armor, would actually contain a blast better than any other standard vehicle,’ Musk noted, indicating the unsuitability of the vehicle for a car bomb.

The ongoing investigation seeks to determine whether the driver, who perished, intentionally detonated the bombs.
