Donald Trump is again making history, and this time it’s for becoming the first convicted felon to step into the role of President.
According to reports from Radar Online, the president-elect has faced a roadblock in his efforts to have his conviction in the hush money case dismissed.
Back in May, a jury in Manhattan found Trump guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records and keeping hush money payments to former adult film actress Stormy Daniels under wraps before the 2016 election.
Initially, sentencing was set for late November, but following an unexpected election win, the judge pushed the sentencing to a later date.
The prosecutors agreed at that time that sentencing might not occur while Trump was holding the office of President. Nonetheless, they stressed that the criminal conviction remains valid.
Even though the timing of his sentencing could see changes or delays, overturning the conviction entirely was portrayed as a rather harsh move.
This past Monday, however, the judge made a ruling that left the charges intact, rejecting attempts by Trump’s legal team to overturn the conviction.
They had petitioned for the charges to be dismissed on the grounds that Trump is now the nation’s leader.
