Dolph Lundgren Announces He’s Cancer Free After Being Given Two to Three Years To Live

Actor Dolph Lundgren recently shared an incredibly uplifting announcement from his hospital bed: he’s now free from cancer. This inspiring update marks the end of a difficult journey for the star known for his roles in Rocky IV and Creed II.

Back in 2015, Dolph Lundgren’s health story began when doctors found a tumor on one of his kidneys. At that time, the tumor was successfully removed, and for five years, his health seemed stable.

However, in 2020, he started experiencing unusual symptoms like acid reflux, which led him back to the doctors.

This visit revealed additional tumors located in his abdominal region. He underwent surgery, which resulted in the removal of six tumors. Sadly, not long after, another tumor about “the size of a small lemon” was found on his liver.

Unfortunately, due to its location, this tumor couldn’t be operated on, and a doctor somberly suggested that Lundgren should focus on spending meaningful time with his family, as his time could be limited.

Faced with such a dire prognosis – being told he might have only two to three years left – Lundgren sought out a second opinion. This decision led to a notable turning point. Another medical expert identified a mutation in the tumor, one similar to those often found in lung cancer cases, paving the way to try targeted treatments.

With a renewed sense of hope, Lundgren shared a personal video on Instagram. In it, he talked openly about his journey, describing it as a “rough ride”. With optimism, he prepared for surgery that aimed to remove what he referred to as “the last dead tumor.”

In the video, he began with, “Here I am at UCLA. I’m about to go in and get rid of that last dead tumor. Since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, I guess I’ll be cancer-free. I’m really looking forward to this procedure.”

Reflecting on the significant lessons learned, Dolph Lundgren added, “It’s been a rough ride, and it really taught me how to live in the moment and enjoy every moment of life. It’s the only way to go.” His video concluded with a hopeful and cheerful goodbye as he was about to head into surgery.

Later, on November 26, he updated fans via Instagram Stories, expressing his gratitude for their supportive messages. This update hinted that the surgery had gone as planned and was well-received.

Earlier, in interviews, Lundgren speculated about whether his past use of steroids might have played a role in his cancer. During a discussion on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, he expressed moments of reflection, pondering if he had done something in his health routine that contributed to the disease.

“I don’t know if that’s anything to do with the cancer. Of course, it struck me that it could be something to do with it,” he candidly explained. “You always think about whether you’ve made a mistake in your health, [or] healthcare, and ponder why you get cancer.”

Dolph Lundgren also wondered about potential connections between cancer and treatments like testosterone and growth hormone therapies. “Maybe there’s some connection between testosterone therapy and HGH—growth hormone therapy—and cancer for some people,” he speculated.

Now, with his arduous cancer journey seemingly in the past, Dolph Lundgren is eager to move ahead, appreciating life and good health. Relieved and filled with gratitude, he stands ready to embrace each day with newfound joy and determination.
