Beloved rapper and singer Daddy Yankee has recently announced that he and his wife, Mireddys González, have decided to part ways after nearly three decades together.
Their separation marks the end of an iconic couple that many have admired through the years.
The music legend chose to reveal this personal update on his Instagram account as the month began, expressing his deepest feelings with his fans. He stated: “With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share some important news about my personal life,”

“After more than two decades of marriage and after many months of trying to save my marriage, which my wife and I share, today my lawyers responded to the divorce petition received from Mireddys.”
It’s clear from his words that Daddy Yankee, whose real name is Raymond Ayala, faced a challenging decision. He openly shared: “I respect Mireddys’ decision,” highlighting the mutual respect that remains between them. “I appreciate the time we shared, full of blessings and values, of love, and with a beautiful family that will continue to be our priority. This is not an easy time, but I understand that it is part of my life process.”
The artist took a moment to thank those who have stood by them throughout their marital journey, requesting understanding and privacy as they navigate this transition. “I deeply thank those who have accompanied us during this journey and I ask that you respect our privacy in this process. I know that this news may surprise many. Thank you for your unconditional support. This will be my only statement.”
Daddy Yankee and Mireddys tied the knot back in 1995 when they were both just 17 years old—a love story that began in their youth and blossomed into adulthood.
Throughout their years together, they were blessed with three children: Jesaaelys, Yamilet, and Jeremy, who are now young adults themselves.
In a candid conversation with Billboard in 2017, Daddy Yankee reminisced about his relationship with Mireddys, saying: “It’s been a great ride with her and I love her.
Once you become a superstar, it’s very difficult to find a real, real woman. I met her before I was Daddy Yankee, so she’s the right one. She loves Raymond Ayala. She’s not in love with DY.”
